RFEO CHECK PRESENTATION

Last night, the Romulus Foundation for Educational Opportunities (RFEO) presented a check for $415,000 to the students of RCS.   This check represents the 175 grants the Romulus community has financed through RFEO over the past decade.

The check presentation was part of RFEO’s 10th Anniversary celebration concert entitled, “A Night of Singing Celebrating 10 Years of Giving.”    The concert featured “The Hangovers”, a subset of the Cornell University Glee Club and NBC singing sensation, “Maxx Factor”.  Maxx Factor is a woman’s barbershop quartet that placed top five out of 3000 competing a capella singing groups on NBC’s “The Singoff” which aired in January.

The free concert was enjoyed by over 400 people at the Seneca County School.  Since 2000, Romulus Central School children have enjoyed a host of grants that have, for example, allowed the children to see theatre in Rochester, Syracuse and on Broadway in New York City.  Likewise, a marketing class has traveled to major cities throughout the United States and experienced firsthand how major sports franchises promote their teams.

The Romulus Foundation, under the leadership of 10 year Chairman, Dr. J. Peter Gregoire, is now chaired by Romulus graduate, Mary McDonald.  Through the generous support of local businesses and friends of RFEO, Saturday night’s concert efforts were completed funded through program advertizing.  RFEO donates 100% of all contributions to fund its biannual grants.  For more information about the Foundation, please visit www.RFEO.org.

February 26, 2010 Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NBC “Sing Off”  Stars perform a Free Concert at RCS.

This year, 2010, marks the tenth anniversary of the Romulus Foundation for Educational Opportunities’ public support campaign.  In our first decade we raised and awarded grants totaling nearly $400,000!  This is an amazing demonstration of support and generosity from the Romulus Community for our students.

In gratitude, The Foundation’s Board of Trustees is sponsoring a free concert for the community.  The headline group will be “Maxx Factor”, an a cappella quartet who recently appeared on the NBC program “Sing-Off”.  This popular group will perform at the RCS auditorium on March 13, 2010 at 7pm.  Doors open at 6PM.  Also performing is Cornell University's Glee Club group, the Hangovers. The evening will include displays by grant recipients of some of the projects and events funded through the Foundation.

The cost of the concert will be 100% covered by advertisements in the program printed for this event.  This is consistent with our operating philosophy: all operating expenses come from the Trustees, not donors.  All donor contributions go directly to fund grants for the exclusive benefit and use of Romulus students, staff and faculty.

With over 175 grants awarded, Foundation funded programming has encompassed a broad range of activities.   For example, Fine Arts Seminars sent students to see regional classical concerts and theater along with Broadway shows in New York City.  Marketing Seminars have sent students to visit sport franchises around the country to learn how marketing professionals contribute to the financial success of major sport organizations.     The simple goal of RFEO is to expose our RCS children to a world of possibilities, above and beyond the regular school curriculum.

The Romulus Foundation for Educational Opportunities deeply appreciates the continued generosity of the community at large.  Through the grants awarded, the children of Romulus Central School have been able to experience the richness of the world around us while living in a small, hometown community.

We hope that you will join us for entertainment and refreshments at our 10th Anniversary Concert, “A Night of Singing Celebrating 10 Years of Giving!”.
